Lace up your running shoes! The Villa Park/Lombard PTA Council is bringing the community together for the 19th Annual Just For Fun 5K Run, held in memory of Bonnie Scahill, a former physical education teacher in District 45.

The community event takes place Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Villa Park Gazebo on the Illinois Prairie Path at Central and Ardmore Avenues.

Students, teachers, families, friends and community members are all invited to participate. In addition to the 5K, younger runners in kindergarten through fifth grade can take part in the 1-Mile Kids Fun Run.

There’s also some friendly District 45 competition involved. Schools, teachers, teams and classrooms are encouraged to rally their runners, with prizes going to those with the highest registration numbers.

You don’t have to be a runner to join the fun. Community members can come out to cheer on participants, visit booths from local businesses, enjoy healthy post-race snacks and listen to music.

Best of all, proceeds from the event go directly back to District 45 students, with funds distributed to local PTAs to help enhance their programs.
