Villa Park residents have an environmentally friendly way to say goodbye to their Halloween pumpkins this fall.

Go Green Villa Park is hosting a community Pumpkin Smash on Saturday, November 7, giving residents a chance to turn their leftover pumpkins into compostable material instead of sending them to the landfill.

DATE: Saturday, November 7, 2026

TIME: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

LOCATION: VFW Post 2801, 39 E. St. Charles Road, Villa Park

The event combines hands-on fun with an important environmental message.

Instead of throwing away pumpkins after Halloween, participants can help give them a more sustainable purpose.

Pumpkin composting returns organic material to the soil and keeps seasonal waste out of landfills.

The event is sponsored by SCARCE, with special thanks to the Villa Park VFW and LRS for their support.

Residents are encouraged to bring their leftover pumpkins and participate in this community effort to make Villa Park a little greener.

Don't toss them — smash them!
