It was a big week on local fields and courts, with all five schools in the Lombard Lilac Ledger coverage area giving fans plenty to cheer about.

Glenbard East continued its impressive football run with a 41-8 win over West Chicago on Friday night.

The Rams improved to 5-2 overall and remained unbeaten in Upstate Eight East play, extending their winning streak to five games.

That conference momentum makes Glenbard East one of the area teams to watch as the regular season heads toward the finish line.

Glenbard South also had a dominant football performance, shutting out Elmwood Park 41-0.

The Raiders added another strong result in boys soccer, blanking Proviso East 3-0 after battling Ridgewood to a 1-1 draw earlier in the week.

With football and soccer both producing convincing performances, Glenbard South had one of the strongest all-around weeks of the five schools.

Glenbard West picked up a 42-24 football victory over Hinsdale Central on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers again showed the physical style and scoring punch that have made Friday and Saturday nights at Glenbard West a local fall tradition.

Willowbrook rolled past Proviso West 42-6, giving the Warriors another convincing football win.

The result added to a strong stretch for a Willowbrook team that continues to generate plenty of excitement in Villa Park.

Montini Catholic delivered one of the week's biggest football statements with a 56-7 victory over De La Salle.

The Broncos also had a notable week in girls volleyball, where Montini defeated Loyola Academy in straight sets, 2-0.

Montini entered the week ranked among the stronger Class 3A volleyball teams in Illinois, and the Loyola win added another quality result to its season.

Across Lombard, Glen Ellyn and Villa Park, the five-school lineup produced a weekend filled with lopsided football wins and encouraging results in other fall sports.

Coming up, Glenbard South boys soccer hosts West Chicago on Tuesday, while several local volleyball teams return to the court during the week.

The Lilac Ledger will continue following all five schools as conference races tighten and postseason play gets closer.
