Glen Ellyn Architecture Takes Focus in Bill North Photo Exhibit |
The Language of Shape explores familiar buildings in black and white |

Familiar Glen Ellyn buildings invite a second look in The Language of Shape in Glen Ellyn Architecture, a photography exhibition at the Glen Ellyn History Center.
Local photographer Bill North uses black-and-white images to explore the geometry of historic and modern architecture throughout the community.
Lines, curves, textures, windows and shadows become the focus, encouraging visitors to notice details they might otherwise pass by.
DATES: On display through February 2027
HOURS: Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
LOCATION: Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street
The exhibition brings together older and newer buildings through their visual forms, rather than presenting architecture only as a record of dates or styles.
North’s accompanying statement describes his interest in the feelings created by shapes and the patterns that frame everyday surroundings.
For residents, the exhibit offers a way to revisit their own community through a photographer’s eye.
Visitors can view the display during the History Center’s regular hours.
