Residents have purchased more than 1,900 native trees and shrubs since the program began in 2018

New native plantings will soon take root in local yards following the 2026 Glen Ellyn Native Tree & Shrub Sale, which received preorders for 135 trees and shrubs.

The plants will add to neighborhood landscapes while providing habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

That makes each purchase more than a landscaping addition: together, these plantings can help create more places for wildlife across the community.

The sale has built a steady record of participation since its 2018 launch.

Over that time, residents of Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities have purchased more than 1,900 native trees and shrubs through the program.

This year’s preorders continue that community effort, bringing another round of native plants into home landscapes.

For participating residents, the next chapter will unfold in their own yards as the trees and shrubs become part of the neighborhood.

Organizers thanked everyone who took part in the 2026 sale.

The latest total offers a reminder that individual planting choices, repeated across many homes and over several years, can contribute to a community’s landscape and wildlife habitat.
