Glen Ellyn Zoning Code Update Moves Toward Public Review |
Proposed zoning districts, lot requirements and commercial building rules expected in November draft |

The Village of Glen Ellyn is continuing its review of proposed changes to its zoning code, which regulates how properties can be used and developed throughout the community.
The Glen Ellyn Plan Commission was scheduled to review proposed zoning changes on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 7 p.m.
That meeting date has now passed, but the broader zoning code update remains underway.
The review includes proposed changes to zoning districts, lot requirements and standards for commercial buildings.
These rules are important because they help determine what types of buildings and land uses are permitted in different parts of Glen Ellyn.
Lot regulations can address such matters as parcel size and the placement of buildings on a property.
Commercial building standards can influence how new development fits into established business areas.
The Village anticipates releasing a public review draft in November 2026, giving residents and local business owners an opportunity to examine the proposed language.
An open house is also expected to follow the release of the draft.
Residents interested in neighborhood development, property improvements or commercial growth may find it useful to review the proposals once they are available.
The draft will provide a clearer picture of what changes are being considered; it does not mean those changes have been adopted.
Community members can follow the Village's zoning code update project for additional information about the draft, public meetings and opportunities to offer feedback.
For now, the next key milestone is the anticipated November public review draft. |
