Halloween in Lombard: Trick-or-Treat Hours and Spooktacular Fun
Recommended October 31 hours, neighborhood safety reminders and an October 18 downtown celebration

Lombard families can plan for an afternoon and early evening of Halloween fun on Saturday, October 31, with the Village recommending trick-or-treating from 3 to 7 p.m.

Along with the recommended hours, residents are being reminded to respect neighbors’ choices about participating.

A lit porch signals that trick-or-treaters are welcome, while homes with lights off should be skipped.

Residents who are not handing out candy can also post the Village’s downloadable “No Trick-or-Treating” sign near their entrance; the Village does not supply printed copies.

Keep Safety Part of the Plan

An adult should go along with younger children, and older children should review safe routes and expectations before heading out.

Stay together, stick to illuminated homes and use sidewalks whenever possible.

Cross at intersections or marked crosswalks, checking traffic in both directions before stepping into the street.

Children should remain outside when accepting candy and never get into someone’s vehicle.

Costumes should be visible to motorists, with masks and accessories arranged so children can see clearly.

Before treats are eaten, caregivers should inspect wrappers and remove candy that is open, damaged or otherwise concerning, while accounting for allergies and choking risks.

Drivers can help by reducing speed and paying close attention to children near streets, particularly as the light fades.

Report concerning activity to the Lombard Police Department, and call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Spooktacular Brings Early Halloween Fun Downtown

The Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce’s Spooktacular 2026 takes place Sunday, October 18, from noon to 5 p.m.

The downtown celebration will run along St. Charles Road between Main and Elizabeth streets.

Families can visit participating businesses for treats and enjoy activities including games, a costume contest, a scavenger hunt, bounce houses and live entertainment.
