Juneteenth events in the Lombard and surrounding area

Highlights include Aurora Juneteenth and Joliet Juneteenth celebrations

Juneteenth, observed annually on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates African American culture and heritage. This year, Lombard, Illinois, and its neighboring communities are hosting a variety of events to honor this significant day.

 

The Lombard Historical Society, the **Sheldon Peck Homestead** will be open on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, offering visitors an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Juneteenth while learning about the Peck family's commitment to social justice. Juneteenth at Peck House

 

In Lombard, the **Lombard Historical Society** is partnering with **Building Love Amongst Cultures (BLAC)** to present the **Cultures of Community Festival: A Juneteenth Celebration**. Scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the **Sheldon Peck Homestead Museum**, this free event will feature local artists, cultural exhibits, live entertainment, and interactive activities for all ages.
