The countdown is on for Socktober, and Lombard residents have one more opportunity to make a small donation that can bring comfort to someone facing a difficult winter.

The Lombard Junior Women's Club is collecting new socks in youth and adult sizes through Monday, November 2, 2026, as part of its seasonal effort to help people in need stay warm.

Socks are an everyday essential, but they are easy to overlook when considering items to donate.

Whether you're shopping for the family or picking up a few extra necessities, adding a new package of socks to your cart is a simple way to take part.

Where to drop off donations

Collection boxes are available at three convenient locations around Lombard:

Helen Plum Library

Madison Meadows Athletic Center

Sunset Knoll Recreation Center

Both children's and adults' socks are welcome, and the organizers ask that all donated socks be brand new.

The collection began October 1 and continues only through November 2, so residents hoping to participate should plan their drop-off before the deadline.

Donors may wish to confirm each facility's operating hours before visiting.

The Lombard Junior Women's Club is known for community service and charitable projects, and Socktober gives neighbors another easy way to support that spirit of local generosity.

As temperatures drop, even a practical gift like a fresh pair of socks can make winter a little more comfortable.

There's still time to help: pick up a new pair or package of socks and place it in a participating donation box by November 2.
