Lombard CROP Hunger Walk Steps Off October 4 |

Lace up your walking shoes for a good cause! The annual Lombard CROP Hunger Walk returns Sunday, October 4, bringing the community together to help fight hunger both locally and around the world.
The approximately 3-mile walk begins at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St., and follows portions of the Illinois Prairie Path and Great Western Trail. Registration will take place from 12:30–1 p.m., with the walk following.
This year’s event will be held in memory of Terry Witt, a longtime CROP Hunger Walk participant and member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church who passed away earlier this year.
The day of service won’t end when walkers cross the finish line. After returning to First Church of Lombard, participants will help assemble 100 hygiene kits for Church World Service. The kits will be distributed to people affected by disasters throughout the country. A raffle for walkers is also planned.
Last year, the Lombard walk raised an impressive $27,000, and organizers hope to meet or surpass that total in 2026.
Funds raised through the walk have an impact both globally and right here in our neighboring communities. Seventy-five percent supports Church World Service hunger-relief efforts in the United States and around the world, while 25 percent stays local to support:
Whether you walk, raise funds or support someone participating, the CROP Hunger Walk offers an opportunity to help neighbors near and far while enjoying an afternoon together in Lombard.
