For Lombard seniors who have been putting off a trip to the DMV, a convenient option is coming closer to home.

The Illinois Secretary of State’s Mobile DMV will bring mobile DMV services to the

Lombard Senior Fair on

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Madison Meadow Athletic Center.

Visitors with appointments can handle several familiar tasks, including standard driver’s licenses, state ID cards and vehicle registration stickers.

Appointments for a REAL ID driver's license are also available, giving residents another opportunity to address an important identification need.

Organ and tissue donor registration and voter registration are offered when a driver’s license or state ID is being processed.

Written tests and road tests will not be available, so anyone needing either exam should make other arrangements.

That distinction matters: A convenient stop at the fair cannot replace every visit to a full-service DMV facility.

Appointments are required, and space is limited, making early planning especially important for residents hoping to avoid a missed opportunity.

Before reserving a time, seniors should confirm that the service they need will be offered at the mobile unit.

They should also review identification requirements, supporting documents and applicable fees before leaving home.

Arriving prepared can make the difference between completing a transaction and having to schedule another visit.

For anyone seeking a REAL ID driver's license, checking document requirements in advance is particularly worthwhile.

The Lombard Senior Fair offers a practical setting for these services, placing routine state business within a local community event.

For residents who find a separate DMV trip difficult, that shorter journey may be the fair’s most meaningful benefit.

Still, convenience depends on securing an appointment and bringing everything needed to complete the requested service.

Residents can check with fair organizers for appointment instructions and details about the available mobile DMV services.
