Lucas Turns 40: Glen Ellyn Celebrates a Hollywood Moment |
Special programming at the Glen Art Movie Theatre and the Lucas movie anniversary |
Downtown Glen Ellyn is abuzz as the community commemorates the 40th anniversary of the beloved film Lucas, which transformed parts of the village into a cinematic backdrop in 1986. This week-long celebration honors the film's enduring charm and Glen Ellyn's unique role in bringing this coming-of-age classic to life.
Special anniversary screenings are scheduled at the Glen Art Movie Theatre from Thursday, March 19, through Thursday, March 26, 2026. Daily showtimes are at 1:00 pm, 3:10 pm, 5:20 pm, and 7:30 pm, with an additional 9:40 pm showing on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Opening day, Thursday, March 19, is designated as Glenbard West Day, offering tickets at a special price of $3.50 for all showtimes. The day's events include a comprehensive student-produced documentary featuring interviews with community members and former students who participated as extras in the film, along with archival news footage from the original 1986 Lucas premiere.
For the remainder of the week, tickets are priced at $9 per person, with a discounted rate of $7 for shows before 5 pm. These screenings will feature a five-minute preview of the student documentary, which will soon be available online through Glenbard West's student newspaper.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the theater box office while supplies last. For more information, visit the Downtown Glen Ellyn website. https://downtownglenellyn.com/lucas |
