Montini Stadium Gets Major Upgrade, Field to Honor Legendary Coach |
Montini Stadium undergoes stunning transformation to pay tribute to beloved coach's legacy |
Montini Catholic High School is making major improvements to John L. Duffy Memorial Stadium this summer, including the replacement of its 15-year-old synthetic turf field and resurfacing of the track.
The original turf, installed in 2011, has reached the end of its lifespan after years of use by Montini's football, soccer, and lacrosse programs, as well as physical education classes. Workers recently removed the old surface, and the new turf is expected to be ready before the start of the 2026-27 school year.
As part of the project, the stadium field will be renamed Chris Andriano Field in honor of Montini's longtime football coach. During his 38 seasons leading the Broncos, Andriano guided the program to six IHSA state championships.
Looking ahead, Montini plans to add permanent restroom facilities in 2027, providing convenient access for visitors attending events at both the football and baseball fields. Photo Courtesy of The Lombardian |
