Purple Manatee Resale Shop Announces Closing in Lombard |
The local thrift store plans to retire at the end of 2026 and limit donations after October 15 |

Purple Manatee Resale Shop, a familiar stop for secondhand finds in Lombard, plans to close at the end of 2026 as its team prepares to retire.
The shop announced its plans in a message to the community, inviting customers to visit for deals on remaining merchandise before the doors close.
Located at 241 W. St. Charles Road in Lombard, Purple Manatee opened in 2021 with a mission of giving back through resale and donations.
Owner Vicki Baldino describes the business as a way to support charities, nonprofits and neighbors in need, while giving gently used items another life.
October 15, 2026, is the final day the store will accept general donations.
After that date, it will continue accepting only textiles and Christmas lights for recycling, along with small collectibles and jewelry.
Shoppers can continue browsing the shop’s inventory for bargains as the store works toward its planned year-end closing.
Once the remaining stock has sold, store racks and displays will also be offered for sale.
The team has also invited anyone interested in buying the entire business to speak with them directly.
For local bargain hunters, it is an opportunity to make one more visit to a shop that has combined thrift shopping with community generosity.
The announcement ended with warm thanks from Vicki, Charlie and Lucy to the Lombard community for its support. |
