From a teen career night to a haunted library and a community clothing swap, our local libraries have plenty to explore October 13–20.

Helen Plum Library — Lombard

Pizza with a Professional — Wednesday, October 14 | 5:30–7 p.m.

 

Students in grades 6–12 can enjoy pizza while hearing about careers from working professionals; registration is required.

 

Intermediate Google Docs — Thursday, October 15 | 3–4:30 p.m.

 

Adults and seniors can build their document skills in a hands-on computer lab session; registration is required.

 

November Program Registration — Saturday, October 17 | Opens at 9 a.m.

 

Plan ahead for next month’s programs, noting that technology classes and some other events have different registration opening dates.

 

Glen Ellyn Public Library — Glen Ellyn

Global Taste Test — Tuesday, October 13 | 3:30–4:30 p.m.

 

High school students can sample and rate international snacks in the Shakespeare Room; registration is required.

 

Social Hour for Adults 50+ — Wednesday, October 14 | 2:30–4 p.m.

 

Meet neighbors over card games, board games and light refreshments in the North and South Meeting Rooms.

 

Haunted Library — Friday, October 16 | 6–8 p.m.

 

Carnival-themed Halloween fun takes over the building, with family-friendly frights downstairs and scarier scenes upstairs recommended for ages 13 and older.

 

Costumes are encouraged; regular library service closes at 2 p.m. to prepare.

 

Villa Park Public Library — Villa Park

Family Playdate — Tuesday, October 13, and Wednesday, October 14 | 10:30 a.m.–noon

 

Drop in for free social play featuring hands-on exhibits from the DuPage Children’s Museum.

 

Teen Hangout — Wednesday, October 14 | 7–8 p.m.

 

High school students can spend time with friends, play games and make crafts; no registration is required.

 

Children’s Clothing Swap — Saturday, October 17 | 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m.

 

Go Green ViP invites families to share gently used children’s clothing and find new-to-them items; check the library’s event page for participation updates.
