Villa Park residents have a new resource intended to make communication with police less stressful.

The Villa Park Police Department has introduced the Blue Envelope Program, designed to support interactions between officers and individuals on the autism spectrum.

The village says the program focuses on communication during traffic stops and other encounters, with the goal of reducing stress and encouraging safer, more positive interactions.

Program materials are available at the Police Department, 40 S. Ardmore Avenue, and Village Hall, 20 S. Ardmore Avenue.

Residents interested in the program can visit either location for materials and consult the village’s announcement for more information.
