Villa Park is preparing to celebrate a community green space with a ribbon cutting and official name reveal on Thursday, October 29.

Residents are invited to gather at the intersection of Villa Avenue and Julia Drive at 4:00 p.m. as the new park sign is unveiled.

Rather than filling the site with traditional playground equipment or paved features, the designated natural park is meant to protect and showcase the local environment.

That approach leaves room for native flowers, grasses and trees while keeping the focus on nature.

Organizers envision potential habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife, as well as educational signs that could help visitors learn more about area ecosystems.

These features are possibilities for the future, not completed improvements or final plans.

The ribbon cutting offers neighbors an opportunity to recognize the park's designation and learn its official name.

For families and residents who enjoy local nature, the gathering is also an invitation to think about what a welcoming, wildlife-friendly green space could become.

DATE: Thursday, October 29, 2026

TIME: 4:00 p.m.

The Garden Village Commission welcomes ideas from the community about future possibilities for the site.

Whether you have a passion for pollinator gardens, native trees or local conservation, the name reveal is a chance to celebrate a greener corner of Villa Park together.
