Villa Park Villa Fest Draws Nearly 2,000, Eyes 2027 Return
First-year festival brings in $32,090 in revenue as organizers consider expanding

Villa Park’s first Villa Fest brought neighbors together for a full day of music, family entertainment and local shopping, and village officials are already looking toward a return in 2027.

The August 22 celebration filled the Ardmore Business District near the Illinois Prairie Path with performances, food vendors, children’s activities and community attractions.

At a September 29 Village Board meeting, organizers described attendance as nearly 2,000 people, a strong showing for the inaugural event.

The festival also welcomed approximately 30 craft vendors and eight food vendors, offering visitors opportunities to discover local makers and enjoy food throughout the day.

Among the attractions were the Big Rigs & Kids vehicle displays, a dunk tank, bingo, a bags tournament, a beer garden and live music.

Several vendors reportedly sold out of their offerings, another encouraging sign for a new community event.

Villa Fest also delivered a more manageable financial result than some large public celebrations.

Organizers reported $32,090 in total revenue against $35,253.34 in expenses, a difference of $3,163.34.

Alcohol sales accounted for $11,928 of revenue, but that figure represents sales rather than the festival’s overall profit.

The village had initially budgeted $30,000 for the event, making the relatively small final shortfall an important part of the financial discussion.

Keeping future costs under control will remain a consideration as organizers explore possible changes.

One idea under discussion is expanding Villa Fest into a two-day event, potentially creating more opportunities for entertainment, vendors and community participation.

However, additional hours or an extra day could also increase the need for staffing, security and other public safety services.

Organizers are expected to review the first festival’s results and develop plans and a formal budget proposal in the coming months.

The village has already identified Saturday, August 21, 2027 as the date for next year’s Villa Fest.

For the volunteers, sponsors, performers and businesses who helped launch the celebration, the first-year turnout offers a promising starting point.

What began as a new neighborhood gathering could become an annual Villa Park tradition, with the final format for 2027 still to be determined.
