York Township Opens Free 24-Hour Naloxone Dispenser in Lombard |
Residents can access overdose-reversal medication outside the township building at any hour |

York Township has added a publicly accessible naloxone dispenser outside its building at 1502 S. Meyers Road in Lombard.
The dispenser provides free, around-the-clock access to naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan.
Residents can obtain the medication without entering the building, visiting during office hours or presenting identification.
Naloxone is a medicine that can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and restore breathing while emergency help is on the way.
The new dispenser was supported through a partnership between York Township and the York Township Community Mental Health Board.
Providing immediate access in a public location removes one barrier for people who may need this medicine urgently.
Anyone who suspects an overdose should call 911 immediately, give naloxone if available and follow the emergency dispatcher's instructions.
Naloxone is an important emergency tool, but it does not replace professional medical treatment.
This resource adds another local prevention measure for the township's residents and neighboring communities. |
