Did you know Lombard’s village flag was designed by a local student? |
In 1963, a community contest was held to create an official village flag. Out of 135 entries, the winning design was created by Susan Mills, a 17-year-old Lombard resident and student at Willowbrook High School.
Her design featured the village seal, the words βThe Lilac Village,β and a beautiful spray of lilacs. On March 18, her entry was announced as the grand prize winner, and the village board soon passed an ordinance officially adopting it as Lombardβs flag.
A hometown design thatβs been part of the village ever since!
