DuPage County’s America 250 Time Capsule ceremony |
Today, Village President Kevin Patrick and Village Manager Mike Rivas participated in DuPage County’s America 250 Time Capsule ceremony hosted by DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy. Representing Villa Park, they contributed a sealed letter to the future from President Patrick, maps of Villa Park from 1939, 1956, and today, vintage photographs of the Villa Park Police and Fire Departments, and two Village lapel pins. All items had to fit inside a 1.5-gallon Ziploc bag before being placed in the time capsule. The capsule was sealed today and will remain closed until 2051, preserving a snapshot of life, history, and community in DuPage County for future generations! |
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Watering and lawn sprinkling regulations are in effect in Glen Ellyn during select times throughout the summer months. The regulations, which began on May 15, are part of a mandate from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and limit when residents can sprinkle or water their lawns. On odd-numbered calendar days, residents in homes with odd-numbered addresses can sprinkle their lawns between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Residents who live in homes with even-numbered addresses can sprinkle their lawns between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on even-numbered calendar days. The restrictions will be in effect through Sept. 30. |

The Villa Park Village Board has approved a Special Use Permit for Cat Guardians to relocate and expand its animal rescue operations in the area.
Supporters, many in cat-themed attire, packed a recent Zoning Board of Appeals meeting to advocate for the expansion.
This move allows Cat Guardians to transition from Lombard to Villa Park, ensuring its mission to rescue and care for local cats continues stronger than ever.
With more space and resources, the organization will be able to help an even greater number of animals in need.

Villa Park has secured $750,000 in federal funding for the Twin Lakes Water Main Improvement Project, thanks to a visit from U.S. Representative Sean Casten of the 6th Congressional District.
This investment will allow the replacement of a failed eight-inch water main along Princeton Avenue, between Wildfire Drive and Belden Avenue.
The project is expected to restore water supply capacity, boost reliability, and enhance fire protection for local residents in the impacted service area.

We’re back on June 19 with our most whimsical group bike ride of the year 6 pm-7:15 pm
Meet at the Newton Park playground for our annual Bubble Ride and (new this year) Juneteenth celebration with popsicles and even MORE bubbles at the end of the ride.
We’ll start with an easy mile loop around the park followed by 3 chill and fun miles around the neighborhoods surrounding Newton, and end back at the playground.
