A proposal that could bring Dutch Bros Coffee to Glen Ellyn will go before the Village Board on Monday, July 27.

The proposed development would replace Danby’s Station, which has operated at 750 Roosevelt Road for more than 20 years. Plans call for demolishing the existing 3,831-square-foot building and constructing a new 1,250-square-foot Dutch Bros Coffee location with two drive-thru lanes and a redeveloped parking lot.

The Glen Ellyn Plan Commission unanimously recommended approval of the requested special-use, zoning, and signage permits during its June 25 meeting. According to village documents, the project supports goals related to commercial vitality, sales-tax growth, and revitalization of the Roosevelt Road Corridor.

Monday, July 27, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Glen Ellyn Civic Center
535 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn

The Village Board meeting is open to the public and will also be available through the village’s meeting broadcast.

What do you think about the possibility of Dutch Bros coming to Glen Ellyn?

Algal Bloom Prompts Pet Safety Warning at East Branch Forest Preserve

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is asking visitors to keep dogs, children and vulnerable individuals away from the water at East Branch Forest Preserve after an active algal bloom was confirmed Monday near the preserve’s off-leash area.

Algal blooms occur naturally, but some can produce toxins that may be harmful if swallowed, inhaled or touched. Pets, young children and people with compromised immune systems may face a greater risk of illness.

The bloom may look like brown, blue or green paint floating on the water’s surface.

Forest preserve officials recommend that visitors:

  • Do not touch the water or visible algae.
  • Keep pets and children out of the water.
  • Immediately wash any skin or fur that comes into contact with the water.

Warning signs will remain posted until the bloom is no longer present, according to the Forest Preserve District.

From household routines to family traditions, you'll discover what life looked like more than a century ago.

Tuesday, August 4, 2026
5 P.M. - 7 P.M.
Victorian Cottage | 23 W. Maple St. Lombard, IL

A fascinating new exhibit at the Sheldon Peck Homestead explores Lombard’s connection to one of the Civil War’s largest Union prisoner-of-war camps.

“Camp Douglas and the Civil War at Home” tells the story of General Benjamin Sweet, a prominent Lombard resident who commanded Camp Douglas in Chicago during the final years of the Civil War after being severely wounded at the Battle of Perryville.

The traveling exhibit, on loan from the Camp Douglas Restoration Fund, features archaeological artifacts, photographs, and stories about Camp Douglas, which housed more than 30,000 Confederate prisoners between 1862 and 1865. Visitors will also learn about Sweet’s daughter, Ada Celeste Sweet, a pioneering federal official who worked at the camp, and Sanford Peck, the teenage son of Sheldon and Harriet Peck, who joined the Union Army at just 15 years old.

Lombard Historical Society Executive Director Alison Costanzo says the exhibit helps visitors see how local history connects to larger national events. "We work really hard here to tell an interesting story based on fact,” Costanzo said. “We are telling these amazing things that happened by ordinary people.”

The exhibit is open noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays through the end of November at the Sheldon Peck Homestead. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated.

Location: Sheldon Peck Homestead, 355 E. Parkside Ave., Lombard

Meet Amana

Amana is a gorgeous brown tabby girl with just the right mix of independence and affection. When she meets someone new, she likes to take a few minutes to size them up-but once you've earned her trust, she'll happily come over for cuddles (on her own terms, of course!). This playful, active kitten loves to explore, chase toys, and then curl up for a cozy nap. She'll often shadow you around the house, though she'd never admit she's following you! Amana has also done wonderfully with children, making her a sweet and confident addition to a loving home.
